The Dayton Six

On September 1, 2019 we participated in a seizure of 6 extremely neglected horses in Armstrong County. The horses are now in a rehabilitation process with Whiskey Acres Sanctuary, Rory Ridge Rescue and Second Chance Equine.

Currently the horses are considered seizures. Due to this, they may be with the rescues for an extended period of time, but we are hopeful that the detective who is working on the case will be able to arrange a surrender with the owner. As of this date, that has not happened.

Two of the horses, Jasper and Autumn, are under the care of Whiskey Acres Sanctuary along with the help of Michelle Marshall. One horse, Jax, is with Rory Ridge. The final three were with Second Chance. Unfortunately one of these horses succumbed to the previous neglect and starvation. His name was Comanche and he will be deeply missed. The remaining horses, Apache and Lakota, still have a long recovery but hope is high, as with all the remaining horses from this seizure.

These three rescue organizations are facing large expenses with the remaining horses and any donations or gift cards for Tractor Supply Company will be greatly appreciated. Also any time to help in the care, like bathing, walking, feeding and grooming will help the rescues, as man power is limited.

Volunteers can call 724-762-9060 or message Mindy Maryai James for Whiskey Acres Sanctuary.

There will be a constant need for bedding and second cut hay (even one bale or one bag) will be appreciated.
